Oak Ridge Town Parks
The Town of Oak Ridge boasts two beautiful parks which offer a variety of recreational uses as well as open spaces that preserve natural vistas to appreciate and enjoy.
The 80-acre Oak Ridge Town Park located at 6231 Lisa Drive opened in 2008 and was funded by the Town's capital reserves with assistance from a $500,000 PARTF (Parks and Recreation Trust Fund) grant from the North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation. Here you will find two children's' playgrounds, picnic shelters, a stocked pond, several walking trails, a mountain bike trail, the Bark Park, lighted multipurpose and baseball/softball fields , a concession stand, amphitheater and ample restroom facilities. The Town Park hosts many popular events for the Town, some in partnership with local community organizations. Among these events are Music in the Park, RidgeFest, Movie in the Park, Light Up the Night, Heritage Day and craft shows. The park's athletic facilities rival many professional facilities and hosts ORYA (Oak Ridge Youth Association) and other athletic organizations' activities.
The 60-acre Heritage Farm Park located at 8515 Scoggins Road opened in 2024 and was also funded by the Town's capital reserves with help from grant funds. A subtle nod to the Town's rich agrarian roots, Heritage Farm Park was built amidst a mixture of woodlands and farmland. The park offers an inclusive children's playground which was built to mimic the historic Old Mill of Guilford County, lighted multipurpose fields, a picnic shelter, walking trails and the Veterans Honor Green which memorializes all military veterans. Plans to include other athletic courts in the park are being considered for Heritage Farm Park.
