Work will continue on storm drain installation this week. A reduced work schedule is in place for the upcoming holidays which will involve crews not working December 24-28 and December 31-January 4, 2026.

There will be a lane closure on NC 68 between McDonalds and Bojangles this afternoon.
October 8, 2025
Work is ongoing south of the Starbucks/Domino's location. Grading work continues north of Fogleman Road removing dirt necessary for the storm drain installation and curb/gutter construction.

Work will progress behind the barrier walls over the next few weeks without any anticipated disruption to traffic flow.

Work crews will finish anchoring the barrier walls this week which will cause no impacts to traffic.
You may have noticed work going on on the corner of Fogleman Road and HWY 68. This is the site of a silt basin which is an erosion control device that has been placed there to provide a temporary drainage easement for the project which required the temporary removal of part of the wooden fence.
August 29, 2025
The following work continues with no anticipated impact to traffic.
A barrier rail along HWY 68 beginning just north of the Devaney Dentistry office and extending to the intersection at HWY 150. At this point the entrance into the gas station (closest to the HWY 68/150 intersection) will be closed until further notice.
A barrier rail beginning on HWY 150 across the road from the CVS and follow HWY 68 to end just past the Central Baptist Church. The rail is on the east side where the Oak Ridge Military Academy is located.
A barrier rail along HWY 68 beginning across from the Maureena Shepherd & Associates, Allen Tate office and extending to the front of the Carolina Priority Care office.
The rails will create a slight shift to the current traffic pattern, but the two-lane, two-way pattern will be maintained.
August 4, 2025

Asphalt will be placed for temporary widening along HWY 68. This work is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 7/30 and Thursday, 7/31. This will enable traffic to shift to the center lane to minimize impact to traffic flow during the project. Note that this work was not done last week due to delays.

- Lane closures will occur as work on the installation of storm drain pipes on the south end of HWY 68 continues.
- The placement of asphalt for temporary widening along HWY 68 will be installed from Linville Road to Marketplace Drive that will enable traffic to shift to the center lane to minimize impact to traffic flow.
- We encourage drivers to drive slowly through the work zones for the safety of the work crews. Please note that no work will take place on the weekends. Lane closures will take place between 9am-4pm Monday - Friday.

Beginning Monday, June 30, 2025, lane closures will occur between 9am-4pm to install drain pipes in preparation for the road improvement project at the HWY68/HWY150 intersection. The lane closures will last for several weeks, and we encourage drivers to drive slowly through the work zones for the safety of the work crews. Please note that no work will take place Friday, July 4, 2025 - Sunday, July 6, 2025.

One utility remains to be relocated by March 2025. Available start date delayed to April 2025 with an anticipated construction time of 24-30 months.

The relocation of utilities required before the start of construction has taken longer than expected. Possible start date is anticipated for the fall of 2024 with a probable start date of the spring of 2025.

Updated information from NC DOT regarding the NC 150 / NC 68 Intersection Improvements Project:
• Utility relocations will continue over the next 4 to 6 months. Utilities involved are Piedmont Natural Gas, AT&T, Charter Spectrum, and Duke Energy.
• The anticipated date for the beginning of roadway construction is late summer or early fall 2024. The project is expected to take 24-30 months to complete.
• Construction will be phased at the discretion of the contractor at the following locations: Installation of traffic circle at Marketplace and NC 150, intersection improvements at NC 150 and NC 68, NC 68 access improvements, and installation of traffic circle at NC 68 and Linville Road.
• During construction, there will be no narrowing or closing of lanes Mondays-Fridays 6:00-9:00am and 4:00-7:00pm.
Anticipated impact during construction:
- Sidewalk closures with pedestrian detours
- Single entryway into shopping centers
- Traffic detour at Linville Road and NC 68
