Public Hearings & Notices
Public hearings are required before changes are made to the Town Development Ordinance or during certain other situations, such as the adoption of the annual Town budget. During public hearings, the public is allowed to speak before the Town Council votes to adopt the ordinance changes.

For rezoning requests, motions by the Town Council to approve or deny rezonings/zoning amendments must, by state law, include whether the change being proposed is consistent with the adopted development plan of the Town of Oak Ridge, whether it is reasonable and whether it is in the public interest. The motion must also include the reasons that the proposal meets or does not meet the required criteria.
